Income Streams
In fiscal year 2024-2025, a diverse array of generous donors made contributions, including individuals, families, businesses, nonprofits, clubs, and foundations. These gifts strengthened both our emerging work and our long-established funds, furthering our shared commitment to community and building upon the long-term vision of our founder, Vera Vietor.

In fiscal year 2024–2025, the Foundation received a total of $11.8 million in contributions. Of that amount, $3.8 million came from grants from individuals, $6.9 million came from grants from philanthropic partners, and $1.1 million came from deposits or organizational funds.
Grants & Scholarships
Thanks to the continued generosity of our donors and funders, grants and scholarships distributed to the community grew to $13.5 million in fiscal year 2024–2025. That’s an increase of nearly $4.8 million over the previous year. This increase is due in part to the Blue Lake Rancheria assuming stewardship of the Leavey Ranch, which represents a one-time real property grant of $3.6 million. Since 1972, the Foundation has distributed a total of $136 million to support our rural communities.

Last year, the Foundation awarded $13.5 million in total grants and scholarships. That total includes $2.1 million in donor-advised grants, $967,000 in scholarships, $1.1 million in designated grants, $4.8 million in field-of-interest grants, and $4.5 million in regranting funds from philanthropic partners along with unrestricted grants.
