Wally’s House receives $25K grant for child abuse prevention center

Congratulations to the volunteers and staff of the nonprofit Wally’s House, which recently received a HAF+WRCF Strategy Grant of $25,000 to help with the expansion of its child abuse intervention and wellness center. Our Strategy Grants support charitable organizations and projects that decrease vulnerability, increase equity and further a healthy, just, and equitable region where families can thrive.

Based in Gold Beach, Oregon, Wally’s House provides Curry County children and families with services that focus on the reduction of trauma to children and improve law enforcement investigative outcomes in child abuse cases. Core services include providing a safe, child-focused setting, medical services, forensic interviewing, case review and tracking and victim advocacy. The nonprofit also provides prevention education to children, teens and adults.

Wally’s House, which currently supports about 40 abuse cases annually, recently purchased an adjacent, empty building to accommodate its growing staff and to expand services, according to Executive Director Jackalene Antunes.

“The HAF+WRCF grant will really help us modify and improve the property so we can better serve the children of Curry County,” Antunes said.
