I moved to Humboldt County in 2017 to pursue my B.A. in English with a concentration in Writing Practices from Cal Poly Humboldt, which I received in 2021. Upon graduation, I spent a year working on campus at Cal Poly Humboldt with the Center for Community Based Learning. In that year, I developed a deeper appreciation for the community here in Humboldt through interacting with and learning about community members and organizations. I have also spent the last few years writing and editing for various literary magazines and journals, where I have been able to express my love for reading and storytelling. Some of my favorite novels are The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy, Salvage the Bones by Jesmyn Ward, and A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. I am thrilled to channel the passion I have for community-building and Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion here at Humboldt Area Foundation.
