I am honored to be part of such a dynamic community foundation. I was born in Compton and grew up in Whittier California. My parents provided a great foundation to be proud of who I am and stand up for what I believe in. I attended Lewis and Clark College and graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a degree in Community Studies. I am married to Carol Falkenthal and have 2 amazing daughters, Trula and Coco. I moved to Humboldt County in 1978 from the Netherlands, where I opened the first Mexican restaurant in the country. I am the founder of Los Bagels and have been involved with Planned Parenthood, NorthCoast Regional Land Trust, Humboldt Bay Trail, Arcata Equity Advisors, Camp Unalayee, to name a few. I enjoy time with my family and friends,cooking and eating great food, traveling, mt biking, hunting and fishing and backpacking. I consider myself a community advocate and hope I can add value to HAF and our community as a whole.
