The Roelofs Humboldt Fisheries Fund was established in 2015 in honor of Dr. Terry Roelofs, Emeritus Professor of fisheries biology at Humboldt State University, by the Humboldt Fishin’ Lumberjacks, a group of HSU fisheries alumni that have met annually since 2002 to share quality fishing time together.
The fund provides scholarships for students in the fisheries department at HSU who are pursuing an advanced degree with a focus on fisheries conservation and enhancement research that applies to, or is in, North Coast watersheds and adjacent marine waters. The Humboldt Fishin’ Lumberjacks have raised over $100,000 to support the scholarship fund, and have now launched a campaign to help increase the size of the fund to offer additional and more substantial awards to deserving students.
