Up to $1,500 in Nursing Scholarships Available
Humboldt Health Foundation established a nursing scholarship in honor of Homer P. Balabanis, a Humboldt County champion for nursing workforce development and education, and key founding administrator at Humboldt State University.

Scholarships of up to $1,500 are available each spring for Humboldt County residents. Eligible candidates must be currently enrolled in or applying to a nationally accredited (CCNE or ACEN) Bachelor of Science in Nursing program or higher advanced nursing degree program. Priority is given to applicants that can demonstrate dedication to underserved populations and rural communities, and are interested in practicing nursing in Humboldt County after graduation.
How to Apply:
The Balabanis Nursing Scholarship is administered through Humboldt Area Foundation’s (HAF) scholarship program. The application is entirely electronic and will guide interested parties through a process of determining eligibility for all HAF scholarships that might be relevant for each applicant. The application period begins in mid-January and closes in early March.

Since its inception, Humboldt Health Foundation has awarded $4 million to improve the health of communities in Humboldt County through grants, nursing scholarships and assistance to low-income children and adults for health and dental care.
