Grant Details

The Angel Fund provides small grants to support the unmet health needs of Humboldt County residents. Requests must be made through a qualified sponsor (such as a recognized social service agency, school counselor, or medical provider); individuals in need of support may not apply for themselves. Grants are made on a one-time basis, per person, per 365-day period. Items that are of a recurrent nature are generally not funded.

Average grants range in size from $50 – $250 (grants in excess of $500 are seldom approved). Decisions to grant funds are contingent upon funding criteria and the availability of funds at the time of review.

There is a two-week turnaround processing time required for application review and check processing. The committee meets every Tuesday, with the exception of holidays. Occasionally the committee will ask for additional information before making a decision. This will often result in a longer turn-around time.

Application Process

All applications must be complete and submitted each Thursday by 12:00 pm to be considered by the committee the following Tuesday.

We would like to highlight that Humboldt Area Foundation + Wild Rivers Community Foundation, and its affiliate Humboldt Health Foundation, do not have case-management components.

For support with navigating resources based on your needs, please utilize our community partners such as 2-1-1 HumboldtFamily Resource Centers, or your Primary Care Provider’s office for assistance.

Requests must be submitted by a qualified sponsor. The Angel Fund Coordinator can assist sponsors with request inquiries, and status of applications will be shared when there are updates.

Applicants must communicate with their sponsor directly about any inquiries or changes to their request.

Sponsors: please do not have applicants contact Angel Fund Coordinator, unless instructed to do so.

Thank you for your interest in the Angel Fund Grant.
